ok im gonna be blunt...banning books is just stupid. if u think its such a terrible book and its too whatever just stop reading it...its that easy. everyone has the right to write or read whatever they please. if you think the book is too this or that or whatever you may think put it down and just move on and get a different book (i meant there are plenty of books out there) dont be DUMB...read what you want
I strongly do not believe in banning books. Each and every book has a meaning behind it and will touch and can relate to someone or something. Books hold memories and history, that everyone deserves to know. You don't have to read a book if it is not up to YOUR standards, but to someone else that book may be their whole life. All books are written for a reason and no one book should be banned. That is like saying that a person should be banned because you don't agree with there morals. If you don't like a book, then don't read it!
Ok... i agree with Mrs. Schreffler. I think the banning of books is absolutely ridiculous. Books are written to expand people's minds and to show different opinions. If you dont like or agree with a book then put it down and pick out another one. Just because one person doesn't like it doesn't mean it should be banned. so... if you don't like a book DON"T READ IT!
ummm banning books is DUMB. i mean if you dont like the book...put it down. its that simple. We shouldnt have to ban books because SOME people think its too this or too that....get over it. some books may be disturbing to you but not to others. The other people might really like that book, so why ban it? Im sure you could find another book to read throughout the millions of books there are...and if you cant..then dont read. that simple
The bannig of books is probaly the stupipdest thing i've ever heard. If we're going to ban books we might as well ban the television too. T.v. is much worse than most books are. Even if you don't agree with what the book is talking about or think its inappropriate DON'T READ IT. Let everyone else do what they want, and if they want to read it let them read it.
i love books and reading. i think its really stupid to ban them its the readers choice to read.

I strongly agree with what this is saying. It is so simple. If you do not like the book then close the book, forget about it, and do not read it. IT IS SO SIMPLE. But it is also your fault because your the one that picked the book out in the first place. Banning books is really retarded though. Next time, you should be more careful in which books you pick out and which book you read.
I CLOSE MY CASE! :)
Banning books...that's straight up dumb. If the book offends you, then you shouldn't read it. People should just stop complaining about the contents of books, because it's just a book. Book banners have no lives if they read books that they don't like just to find something in there that they don't like.
In my belief, I think that banning books is really dumb. You don't have to read if you don't want to. There are people in this world who like to read or even love to read. What would those people do if all books were banned? Just because you don't like reading and writing doesn't mean that there are not people in this world who love doing it!

I totally agree 100% with everyone who has posted and Mrs. Schreffler. Banning books is a horrible idea. If you do not like the book or you are offended by the book you can put the book down. There is nothing keeping you from putting the book down. Some of the greatest books have disturbing scenes in it, however, the scene is necessary.
i agree with mrs. schreffler completely; the banning of books is insulting to our intelligence. while it may offend some people to have violent and animated books--most often just because they see a "bad word" and throw the book down instead of looking at what it can teach them--to others, that so called violence and profanity is enhancing our intelligence and expanding our minds. i also think the banning of books is insulting to the author's imagery and creativeness.

I agree that banning books even though there not my favorite thing is probably not the best idea.Books that have bad language or that are contraverseal are usually the ones you learn the most from.
I think it is ridiculous to ban books just for violent or sexual content. Some very importsnt stories have been condemned just because some people find them offensive and i think that is very close-minded. With the exception of little kids, I think these stories often help describe what happened in a wway that will stick with the reader and help get the point across. Better reason should be found before a book is banned.

I defend the banning of books. I think reading books are stupid and a waste of time....NO just kidding. Yeah i agree, if you don't like the book put it down! I think the more you read the more you know. The more you know the smarter you'll grow in speaking your mind or making a choice!

I belive that the banning of books is rather stupid. Parents blame books for there childrens problems. Just because A book has a bad word doesn't mean it will ruin the chile. Odds are they already knew about it if they can read it. Books are ment for learning if you dont like the book put it down.
Hmm, well lets see here i think i agree with the majority of what she's saying like the part where she says if you see something you don't like about the book, for instance the language then put the book down and go find a different one. It's not that hard and if you think it's going to get better and it doesn't don't complian about it, and again put the book down and find a new one.

I hate books. Lets get rid of them all. BAN THEM ALL!

I do not beleive that banning books is a good thing. I say this because a book to me is a chance to go somewhere else imagination wise. Banning books would be just against almost everything for an avid reader. I do not like the subject at all do to the just plain stupidity of trying to take something so good away

my opinion about book banning is that it shouldn't be allowed. Mrs. Schreffler made a good point when she said if a person feels that the book they are reading is bad, then they should just put it down themselves. All authors use different ways of getting their point across, even if that may be by rape, sex, or language. The reader just has to learn to find the authors point of view.
:)
I think we should not ban books. We have the freedom to read what we want and everyone is interested in different things. If you don't like the book then don't pick it up.

I think that banning books is stupid. If you dont like the book then don't read it. If someone else wants to don't take their right away for wnating to read a specific book.
Ok. How i look at it if you don't like a book then YOU don't have to read it. It doesn't make sense to not let anyone read it just beacuse a certain group don't like it.
i think its a bunch of bologny, i probably spelled that wrong but doont care, just read what u want and dont fuss about it.
Honestly, if you don't like a book don't read it. And don't read any other titles from that author. Banning a book because it has content that you don't like in it is just pathetic.
i agree with her that banning books is stupid. Just because you dont like the book doesnt mean someone doesnt like it. you never know, that could be someones favorite book but its your least favorite.
im not sure i dont like to read but other kids do i guess they shouldnt be banned
WOW I completely agree with her just becuase you dont like the book doesnt mean your neighbor wont like it either. Just becuase you dont agree with how the author says something doesnt mean that their opinion doesnt matter. If someone doesnt agree thats fine but take away my right to form my own opinion!
I believe banning books would be very stupid. If you find a book offensive you shouldnt read it. Other people may like it, so why would other people have to suffer for people that pick books out they dont like?
ya i think banning books is stupid i dont like reading but you shouldnt ban a book because it affends you omg just put it down jesus christ lol but ya i dont read but i think ppl are just doing it for the attention
My opnion is short and sweet and straight to the point, IF THEY DONT LIKE THE BOOK THEY NEED TO PUT IT DOWN AND STOP READING IT!!!!! Cause by banning books they are taken that privlige away from readers that might enjoy the book, were they may not. Also it is up to the READER if they read th ebook or not, the book doesnt make them read it ><.
Yea im going to have to keep it real...this is the most ridiculas thing i have ever heard. I mean seriously if you don't feel comfortable reading the book GET A NEW ONE. Its that simple!!! They make deifferent books for different people and diferent ages just like they do movies so that you can CHOOSE. Whoever came up with that idea needs to grow up for real...and thats real talk.
I personally do not like reading but I don't think books should be banned because some people enjoy reading so if you don't like to read..then don't.
i think this is trying to say that society is scared of its own demise which is starting with corruption and all the other mess ups of the government among other areas, and as a feeble attempt at controlling this demise, they are trying to ban certain literature and intertainment because it shows just what the world is comming to. an end. but maybe thats a little too deep, maybe they dont want useless profanity in modern literature. maybe...
I'm not much of a reader. However, I know a lot of people who are. The banning of books is dumb, in my opinion. Honestly, if the book isn't appropriate then why publish it in the first place?
-Softball5
Banning books would be a horrible idea. Even though I am not obessed with reading as some people are, I do enjoy it every once in a while. Plus if books were banned how would we get our education? We learn out of books. Books are a grave part of our society and it would be a diaster to ban them.
I think its stupid when books are ban because most poeple who try to ban them dont look past the cover. for example, some poeple belived tha harry potter books shouldn't be allowed in schools because they talked about witchcraft. I honestly don't believe that those poeple actually read the book because if they did, they would see that its simply a story of good vs. evil and good prevails. whats so bad about that? please, if you dont like a book, dont ruin it for the rest of us.

If you are watching something on TV and you don't like what comes on, what do you do? Change the channel. Likewise, if you are reading a book and you don't like what you are reading, don't read the book! It's that simple. I don't understand why everyone makes such a big deal about books that have graphic images, or profane language or whatever the case may be. I agree with Mrs. Schreffler when she says think about the authors purpose behind the book. There is a reason behind every movie that is produced, song that is sang, and book that is written!
i don't think books should be banned because most of them are used as a resouce for a lot of things. but also the books should not be agressive or disturbing becuse thre are books like that and some people read them for enjoyment but when they read those kinds of books are disturbing.
ok, now I do not read that many books ,but I will say this, "AMEN!" If the book bugs you then put it down! Banning books do not help their opinion at all. instead of banning it study it and see why some read it. like the Harry Potter books, I know many who hate them because they deal with "witch craft." But in a interview with J. K. Rowling she professes to be a Christin and that the books are just fun. so why ban the books if they are good ones, and most books teach us good morals.
Banning books? What the heck. No one is forcing anyone to read the book. It is just like the movies. You have a choice to go see the rated R movies. You also have a choice to LEAVE the rated R movie. It is the same with books. The author puts the information in the book knowing who might read the book, and he or she is putting their reputation at risk. It is their choice. If the book is so bad that no one reads it, it is their fault and they knew it was a probabilty.
I agree with everyone else thinking that banning books is a bad Idea. If you don't like the book put it down.
The banning of books is just plain funky. We should be able to read what we want to read and write what we want to write. Ummm well I think saying we should not write what we want to write goes against the 1st Amendment, the freedom of speech.
from:lvsk8er91
I do believe that book banning is wrong. If someone has a problem with the book then they have no business reading it. Not everyone is going to like every book out there, but that doesn't mean that they have to read them all. If a book was banned just because a few people don't like, then we wouldn't have any books at all. We have the right to read what we want and the right to also put it down.
I dont think it's right to ban books beacuse of its content on the inside. If you are so offended by it close the book, you dont have to read it. People need understand that they really aren't that big in this world and they cant change things by themselves because of a book. There are far more important things other than banning a book.
if you like the book read it.... if not dont.... say you find youeself reading a book and you find something that you dont like in it its not that hard to close it. dont try and band books. the book wasnt just written for you anyway.
..nikeboy..
I think book banning is ridiculous. People shoule be able to read what they want, and not have anyone telling them any different. There are some people in the world who don't even know how to read, so if we can read, I think we should! :)
I also think that book banning would be a violation of the first ammendment.
-texas2010
The banning of books is stupid cuz if you dont like abook you dont have to read it. you can just put it done and never look at it again. even as someone who hates readin i still wouldnt ban books.
I think this is ridiculous because the American people should be able judge the government however they please. Our own government is afraid of the people. We the people have more power then we realize and the governement is afraid of us knowing the truth.
Books should not be banned, and i completely agree with the banning books article. because if there actually is a book out there that offends you so much that you think that nobody else should be able to read it either, then just do everybody else a favor and die. just kidding thats a little extreme but you get the point.
deadhead
I think that it is absolutely ridiculous to ban books. The government should have no control over American people to read and get inspired by books.

banning book is a bad idea cause we learn from books and if you ban books then people wounder why and read them anyways so save the time and effort and let people read
silverfish
Banning books is stupid, if you dont like the bookyou dont have to read it. There is a lot of books in the world you dont have to read just one book.
